Federal firefighters are slowly gaining more containment on the Red Salmon Complex, burning in the Trinity Alps Wilderness on both the Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests. The two fires have burned a combined 5,977 acres, now with 30% containment. A red flag warning is in effect through tomorrow over the fires area. Forest Service crews are using minimum impact suppression tactics to protect natural and cultural resources, and strengthening indirect provisional lines using trail systems, roads, ridge lines and control lines from previous fires.
