Two people from Los Molinos were injured when they crashed while on the way to the hospital. One of them had surgery recently and they had a follow-up appointment Monday morning. Their Chevy S-10 pickup was on the transition ramp from northbound Interstate 5 to westbound Highway 44 when the driver, 62-year-old Charles Mueller, failed to make the last turn and launched airborne across the lanes of Highway 44. The truck rammed the center wall and a side window popped out and landed in the eastbound lanes. Mueller sustained minor injuries to his left arm. His passenger, 57-year-old Barbara Williams, suffered major injuries. They were both transported to Mercy Medical Center.
