Redding Police say a man keeps stealing cars while awaiting sentencing for previous crimes. At 5:30 Friday morning an officer on Lake Boulevard spotted a stolen car at a trailer park. When he checked the mobile home where the car was parked he found 32-year-old Joshua Anthony Azavedo, who the RPD calls a “habitual car thief”. He allegedly admitted responsibility and was booked into jail, a process with which he’s become very familiar. Just last Sunday Azavedo was arrested for allegedly trying to evade officers in a different stolen car and a week before that he had been arrested in yet another stolen car. All told Azavedo has been arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail sixteen separate times just this year. His charges have included possession of drugs for sale, possession of stolen property, and many probation violations. He still awaits sentencing on multiple cases. Azavedo is on post release community supervision for being a felon with a gun, so without AB109 he would have been in prison this whole time. As of Monday morning, Azavedo was still being held without bail
