A deputy spotted a car stolen from Redding within two hours of the theft over the weekend. At 1:42AM Saturday Deputy Timothy O’Hara and his K-9 Hondo were on patrol when they pulled into the AM/PM Market at Cascade and Oasis. O’Hara saw the car at the gas pumps, confirmed it was the stolen car and saw that four people were sitting in it. As he approached the car all four people got out and started walking toward the store when the driver suddenly ran around the side of the building and vanished into the darkness of the woods. Hondo helped Deputy O’Hara detain the three passengers. Other Deputies and CHP Officers responded along with a CHP helicopter to search for the driver. Hondo followed a track about 200 yards across Oasis Road to 27-year-old Jesse Caldwell, who was reportedly hiding next to a travel trailer. Caldwell is on Post Release Supervision and was booked into jail on multiple charges.
