Transportation funding just approved by the state includes money for a long-awaited overpass just east of Redding. The California Transportation Commission has allocated $593 million for 124 projects statewide. $5.7 million will go toward an overcrossing on Highway 44 at Stillwater Road between Redding and Palo Cedro. After the project, only right turns will be possible at the intersection. $5.6 million is going into Highway 36 improvements in and around Red Bluff, including pavement rehab, ADA-compliant curbs and more sidewalks and bicycle lanes. Nearly $200,000 is going to the Shasta Regional Transportation Agency for planning costs.
