Another incident will undoubtedly feed the recent fears of crime on the Sacramento River Trail. At around 1:20PM Tuesday afternoon a man was near the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens on the north side of the river when he was shoved to the ground by a man who then took his wallet and fled. There’s not a good description of the mugger, just that he’s a white man with dark pants, a light-colored shirt and a ballcap. The victim sustained some scrapes to his arm when he hit the ground. Redding Police have been unable to locate the suspect despite a search of the area.  In light of a recent increase in crimes on Redding’s trails and parks, the police department has announced that they’ll increase patrols in those areas through a collaboration with the CHP that’ll have officers patrolling on bicycles, off-road motorcycles, and on foot. Suspicious activity can be reported to the Shascom non-emergency line at 225-4564.
