Man Sentenced To 18 Years For Participating In Child Porn Ring

A 46-year-old man from weed has been sentenced for his participation in an international child pornography ring involving children as young as 8. Jeffery Van Dyke was charged last April and pleaded guilty in March. Van Dyke and other members of the conspiracy made fake profiles on social networking sites popular with kids. Posing as teenagers, they would lure children to a pair of websites that they controlled. They would then show the children pre-recorded footage of previous victims engaging in sexual acts and make them believe they were chatting live with the children in the footage. They would convince the viewers to turn on their own webcams and engage in sexual activity, which was surreptitiously viewed by other members of the exploitation ring and recorded for later use. The members’ success in enticing the children to engage in explicit conduct was ranked by other members. The network was spread around the world, with connections in South Africa, Canada, Holland, Australia and throughout the U.S. Both of the websites have been disabled by the FBI. For his part, Van Dyke has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison.
