A man caught shoplifting raised the stakes dramatically when he pulled a gun on an employee, according to Redding Police. At about 2 O’clock Monday a loss prevention officer for Home Depot confronted a man outside the store who he suspected of shoplifting. The thief took a pistol from his waistband and pointed it at the employee, then ran away through the parking lot toward Barnes and Noble bookstore. Police descended on the area and found 39-year-old Victor Luisotti nearby at Old Alturas and Canby. When he saw Njord, the police K-9 approaching, he immediately surrendered. Luisotti was not armed when officers took him into custody but after searching the area they found a loaded semi-auto handgun and merchandise stolen from Home Depot. Luisotti is on Post Release Supervision from a previous Shasta County theft conviction. He was booked into jail on a long list of charges.
