A 41-year-old Redding man was killed in a crash east of Palo Cedro while being pursued by the CHP Wednesday afternoon. At around 5:15PM a reckless driver was reported by several other drivers on Northbound Interstate five near Hooker Creek. A CHP helicopter spotted the speeding Mustang and ground units intercepted it on Airport Road as the driver was trying to run other cars off the road. The Mustang was chased at high speed to Highway 44, and rolled over into a field just east of the Cow Creek bridge, according to CHP Officer Jason Morton. The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identifed the driver as Jonathan Charles Bell. The CHP is still seeking witnesses.
