Update: Driver Of Stolen Car Arrested For DUI

A driver who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana early Wednesday morning apparently was not forthcoming with his true identity, according to Redding Police. Just after 3AM the juvenile driver lost control of a Dodge Challenger and crashed at the Breslauer Way railroad crossing. Officers arrived to find the car blocking the tracks. The crossing guard arm had been knocked down and the car was wedged against the crossing guard stand. Passengers on an Amtrak train were delayed about an hour as crews cleaned up the scene. The driver was initially identified as 21-year-old Robert Puglisi, and he was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail. At about 10:36AM Wednesday Puglisi called Redding Police to report his car was stolen by a juvenile acquaintance. He told officers that the juvenile may have used his name and personal information at the crash scene. Officers checked with jail staff and verified that the juvenile was in custody and during questioning he apparently continued to identify himself as Puglisi. He eventually revealed his true identity. The boy was taken to juvenile hall and was booked for DUI of marijuana, theft of a motor vehicle, and false impersonation.
