Authorities Seek Leads Into Poaching Cases

Large rewards are offered in a couple of Northern California poaching cases. On June 12th the carcass of a big horn sheep was found near the Jenny Creek camping area in Siskiyou County. Somebody had decapitated the large ram and left the remains along Copco Road and Iron Gate Lake Road, just out of the sight of passing drivers.

On July 29th an injured deer was reported near Elk River Road in Eureka. The big buck had been shot through its back with a high-powered rifle, leaving it paralyzed and suffering. Wildlife officers euthanized it.
When the Humane Society heard of the cases they pledged a reward of 5000 Dollars for each of the cases, which is available in addition to the 1000 Dollar Caltip reward. Anonymous tips can be provided at (888) 334-2258.
